About Lola Wang

Lola Wang is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who specializes in immigration psychological evaluations.

She received her Master of Social Work from the University of Chicago and completed training in forensic social work through two highly respected clinics affiliated with the University of Chicago Law School: the Mandel Legal Aid Clinic and the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights. Through this interdisciplinary training, she worked closely with leading attorneys and legal scholars, gaining extensive experience in how psychological evaluations function within legal proceedings, particularly in immigration cases.

For the past seven years, Lola’s work has focused extensively on immigration psychological evaluations. She has independently completed more than 400 immigration-related evaluations and has supervised hundreds more, with involvement in nearly 1,000 immigration evaluations overall. Her work includes evaluations for VAWA petitions, extreme hardship waivers (I-601 and I-601A), U-Visa and T-Visa petitions, asylum cases, and cancellation of removal proceedings. Because of the high volume and complexity of her work, and her ongoing collaboration with highly experienced immigration attorneys, she maintains a strong understanding of current USCIS requirements and how psychological evaluations are used in immigration cases.

Lola also serves as a supervisor and educator in the field of immigration psychological evaluations, training and supervising therapists, developing training materials and educational resources, and providing ongoing consultation to clinicians working in this specialized area.

Earlier in her career, Lola served as a Clinical Supervisor at the Midwest Asian Health Association (MAHA), a leading community mental health organization serving immigrant communities. In this role, she supervised clinicians, provided training on mental health assessment, and helped maintain high standards of culturally responsive clinical care.

In addition to her clinical work, Lola has been invited to provide presentations and professional trainings for leading community and public institutions, including the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and Chicago Public Schools.

Her work has been featured by major media outlets including WTTW Chicago Tonight, WBEZ Chicago, NPR, Inc. Magazine, and SELF Magazine,
